About

A little about me: Hi! I’m Katie – a small-town girl from Southeast Nebraska. The oldest of 4 girls, I was raised on a large working farm with horses, cattle, hogs, chickens, and acres of field crops and gardens. Horses have been a definitive lifelong passion of mine ever since I was old enough to understand what they were. Because of this, I’m an avid horsewoman who has been participating in breeding, riding and showing quarter horses, paints and ponies since I was a child. Currently, my favorite classes to show in are the ranch horse classes. While the stock horse breeds are where my roots lie, I truly appreciate all breeds, disciplines, and genders of horses and have always known that a career with them was part of the purpose that God gave me on this Earth.

In addition to my love for photography and horses, I also enjoy cooking and baking, gardening, country music, attending church, fishing, target shooting, anything artsy or crafty and spending lots of time with my friends and family.

I am also the wife of a pilot and officer in the United States Marine Corps named Andrew. Together he and I live the military life and have had the privilege to live in places such as Pensacola, FL, Corpus Christi, TX, and currently San Diego, CA! Our adorable Jack Russell Terriers “Bella” and “Zoe”, and our horses “Flirt, JD, Roxy, Sonny, & Fancy” travel with us everywhere we go. When he is home you will often find Andrew attending photo shoots with me acting as my “ear getter” for my animal subjects or second shooting for me at equine events.

In addition to running my photography business full-time, I also work part-time for the FEI and USEF on their medication control team which has afforded me the opportunity to work at amazing events like the FEI World Cup Finals and FEI World Equestrian Games.

When we are stationed in another state, I travel back to Nebraska several times throughout the year and offer photo session opportunities during my visits.

A little about my photography: I have always sought outlets to utilize my creative mind and have had an interest in photography since I was little bitty. At the age of eight I joined my local 4-H club and took part in both the horse and photography programs. I participated in many 4-H photography projects and contests with my Kodak Star 110 camera. In those early days I photographed everything from the barn cats to the barn door. As the years have gone by my interest continued to grow and I continue to develop my skills, upgrade my equipment, and further my knowledge.

In 2009 I created a business whose name was inspired by one of my very own horses “Sheza Shootingstar”, a beautiful Paint mare who has often been found in front of my lens. I have been rewarded by being published in magazines, winning a few photography contests, and gaining interest, business, and support from my family, friends, and cherished clients.

My specialty lies in equine and pet photography, alongside capturing people portraits (high school seniors, family, children, engagements), and military homecomings. I also enjoy photographing all equine related events and an occasional wedding.

Whether it’s capturing beautiful portraits with your horse or pet, joyful family memories, or a heartwarming military homecoming, I pour my heart into every frame, ensuring a tailored and cherished experience for every client.

Thank you for visiting my site and sharing in my passion for preserving moments that truly matter. I invite you to explore my portfolio and reach out to discuss how we can bring your vision to life.
